The isle of Skye is one of the most dramatically beautiful of all the Hebridean islands. At fifty miles long,it is also the largest of the Inner Hebrides and boasts a rich history and a huge range of wildlife. It is also a top destination for walkers and climbers - the island's spectacular Cuillin range is world-famous and contains 12 Munros (mountains above 3,000 feet).
This vintage railway poster,from c. 1932,was produced for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER),promoting rail travel to Skye. The original artwork is by Schabelsky,who produced a number of travel posters in the 1930s,and was printed by Vincent Brooks,Day & Son Ltd,Lithographers,London.
