A native of Houston,Texas,Yoon Ha Lee established his reputation in the field of science fiction and fantasy through a number of highly-regarded short stories. His debut novel,Ninefox Gambit,received the 2017 Locus Award for Best First Novel and was the foundation tale of his Machineries of Empire trilogy.
