Although I am not keen on realist teenage fiction,I have to admit that the novel is both well-written and innovative. McCarthy is very good at getting inside her character's head,rather than simply regurgitating clicheed teenaged behaviour,and I found the unusual narrative style (namely the parallel structure and the street-press coloumn) refreshing. www.writeaway.org.uk
